Benefits to young people
During the workshops, young people interact and learn from each other in ways that have a profound impact on their lives outside of the sessions.
Our aim is that working with Brixton Inclusive has the following benefits on children and young people:
• They develop relationships with people different from themselves.
• They have greater interaction and more confidence to work with people outside of their usual peer group.
• They develop personally in terms of their levels of involvement and participation in other activities.
• They stretch the boundaries of their comfort zones.
• They develop greater self awareness and an increased sense of pride in who they are and what they are each achieving.
• They develop their self esteem and their means of self expression.
• They develop greater understanding that they each have a place in their communities and a role to play in its success.
One of our key goals is to ensure that the label ‘disability’ does not prevent people from participating fully, or from achieving their maximum potential.
Artistically and creatively we aim for children and young people to benefit in the following ways:
• Develop greater confidence to perform in small groups as well as more publicly.
• Inclusive improvisation.
• Inputting ambitious and creative ideas into the development of themes for projects and productions.
• Develop greater confidence to be experimental with different art forms.
